The GLA:D® Australia program consists of:

  • An initial appointment to explain the program and measure your current functional ability.
  • Two education sessions which teach you about OA, its risk factors, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
  • Group exercise sessions twice a week for six weeks to improve your control of the joint, your confidence in the joint and your strength.
  • A review at 3-months with your clinician to discuss progress and goals, and re-measure your functional ability.
  • Completion of a questionnaire on registration with the program, and then again at 3 and 12 months after registration to measure changes in areas such as pain, function, quality of life, and medication use.

Who is suitable for GLA:D®?

  • All individuals who experience any hip and/or knee pain or symptoms of OA, regardless of severity.
  • Individuals who have needed to see a health care provider due to a hip or knee joint problem.

Extra information about GLA:D®?

  • Our classes run on a Tuesday and Thursday from 11am – 12pm.
  • Cost for the program is $480 (12 exercise sessions and 2 education sessions).
  • A GP referral is not required to participate in GLA:D®, however you will need to book an initial appointment with a physiotherapist to assess your needs and suitability for the program.
  • If you are suffering from other health issues there may be an alternative approach to your treatment which can be discussed with your physiotherapist.
  • Some individuals may be eligible for a healthcare rebate. We recommend you contact your health fund for further information.
